Australia and The Solar Eclipse--the place to be

The NASA publication "Total Solar Eclipse of 2002 December 04" rates the Australian Outback as one of the best places in the world to view the eclipse due to the absence of cloud cover.  Take this opportunity to explore Australia while enjoying a total solar eclipse.  In addition to the eclipse--you can arrange for close encounters with kangroos, wombats, koalas and seals.  Abercrombie and Kent has a wonderful tour for the eclipse.  Check out with Abercrombie and Kent's excellent Australia offerings.

 

Last Call for Yangtze River Cruising

One of China's  most scenic and majestic landscapes will vanish when the final stage of the long awaited Yangtze River Dam is completed in 2009.  Despite world-wide opposition, the march of progress continues as more and more land is flooded to complete the world's largest hydro-electric dam.

The river will be "break it's navigation from November 1, 2002 until June 15, 2003.  Although cruise ships will still operate, their routes will be altered. Without a drastic reversal of policy by the Chinese Government, the  beginning of the end is in sight for artifacts dating back over 100,000 years.
